Maintenance is an important consideration because all commercial fridge & refrigeration requires attention even if it is operating satisfactorily. Regular maintenance improves reliability and extends service life of your commercial fridge. Often the cost of annual maintenance is less than the cost of a single repair if the equipment is neglected.

We all know that a fundamental responsibility of owning mechanical equipment is maintenance of that equipment.  We know that our vehicles require regular maintenance and the same is true of refrigeration equipment.

Refrigeration maintenance should be designed to focus on ensuring the reliability, efficiency and longevity of the equipment. For example, the majority of equipment has an air-cooled condenser circulating ambient air all the time refrigeration equipment is in operation. Dust particles and foreign material deposit on the condenser which dramatically reduces the effectiveness of the refrigeration system. Efficiency can be compromised by an even slightly soiled condenser. In severe cases dirty condensers lead to expensive component failure.

Failure to carry out regular maintenance will lead to the need for expensive commercial fridge repairs.

The speed at which the condensers soil is dependent on the cleanliness of the local environment, so each site can be different. We inspect, clean and report on the soiling of the air-cooled condenser and advise when a major strip clean is required. Maintenance frequency must take into account soiling speed and be flexible enough to respond if conditions change.

The condensate drain is another area that requires inspection to ensure there is no stagnant water sitting in the low-lying areas. This will ensure the system is always hygienic and prevent mould and yeast growing in the drain leading to a blockage

Other checks that are standard for commercial refrigeration are gaskets, door furniture, thermometer, insulation, sight glass for moisture and refrigerant charge, sight glass for oil level and wiring connections.

Refrigeration maintenance is very economical, often 12 months of maintenance can cost less than one commercial fridge repair.

    Needed replacement unit at office. Previous company quoted high for replacing board in old unit so I thought it best to upgrade.Friend recommended Bob and Thermo Tech. Came around, advised us to get a larger 7Kw unit (fan runs slower, more efficiently and quieter so will last longer). One of his team did the install - nice guy, efficient, on time and cleaned up/took away old heavy unit (after asking me if I wanted it!).
