Temperature control for server rooms

26 January 2022 | Temperature control

Imagine a server room filled with machines that do all the computing work for businesses and cooling systems to keep servers within an acceptable temperature range. These servers are an integral part of business operations, and if they fail, hours or even days of work can be lost, so we offer a way to ensure their servers are always running at full capacity. How can a data centre maintain a high level of functionality while reducing cost and power consumption? One integral method is to monitor the temperature in the server room.

Unsurprisingly, computer hardware generates a lot of heat. Therefore, cooling systems are needed to balance the temperature and ensure the safety of machines. Temperature monitoring can help managers achieve this. For example, monitoring hot spots in a data centre can be critical to preventing fires.

There are acceptable temperature and humidity ranges in a server room. It has been recommended a temperature of below 25 degrees celsius can save 5% on energy costs. Data centre temperature shouldn’t exceed 32 degrees celsius. It should be noted these recommendations are constantly changing.

As the focus continues to be on energy efficiency, data centre vendors are looking for new ways to cut costs and reduce their environmental impact.

Temperature monitoring in a server room can be critical when businesses seek to save money and reduce their long-term carbon footprint. Strategically placed temperature sensors around the server room can help provide us with real-time information about how hot, cool or humid the room is. With this data, IT staff will know if cooling mechanisms should be tuned, potentially eliminating hot spots and preventing more serious dangers such as fires in the server room.

This company is awesome, we needed their help to reset the temperature on our walk in freezer at home, as our contractor was away on holiday overseas, we were desperate as we had a lot of goods in the freezer. It was after hours and it was a Saturday, they guided me remotely to rectify the problem, they saved me money, did not have to pay them for their time. Will definitely be referring this company to all our network's as this company values their customers and it's not all about the money but customer focused everytime. Thanks again from the bottom of my heart for your support and guidance when we needed help, may your company be blessed with all great opportunities and growth and continue the great work you do.
